Transfer maps and Quad drawing

We’ve been learning how to use the quad draw tool and Transfer maps.

The quad draw tool was easy to learn, I originally struggled with figuring out how the curse lines would go, but after being shown it was easy to figure out what I was doing.

Then we moved onto transfer Maps, transfer maps is how to fake details which high poly Models would have.

Here is a fault I made, it is a triangle poly compared to a quad, Triangles should be avoided because it’s hard for the game

engines to work with and it can make tears in the models. I need to be more cautious next time while drawing.

And here is a black hole which didn’t texture properly, this could be because Maya wasn’t updating due to the servers/a bug, the detail from the high poly didn’t generate.

Here is my final product

We also did sewing on UV’s, where you grab the edges and sew them together. This may be useful for me when I come to texturing my environment and character. The Quad drawing will also come in handy because sculpting from mud box will give the character a way too high poly count when it comes to her head, and so I need to quad draw that part.
